Lost Pet? Found Pet?

Lost or Found Pet:

  • Be prepared to provide a picture, description and date/time that the pet went missing or was found..

  • The Association does not catch loose animals and does not have the ability to retain these animals.

Found Pets Only:
  • Residents may contact Dakota Dunes Night Patrol to assist with animals from 6pm-6am daily. Please call 712.253.3102. Night Patrol will do what they can to connect with Noah's Hope and assist with transport if needed.

  • If the animal is a dog, Noah's Hope Animal Rescue will assist the resident who found the dog with transport and retention. Noah's Hope is entirely comprised of volunteers who assist with lost animals; therefore, they may not be immediately available to pick up the animal. Owner's who find and retain animals should be prepared to correspond and work with Noah's Hope in trying to locate the owner of the dogs and/or transporting it to a foster home.

Noah's Hope will keep the dog for 24 hours in the area, 72 hours in rescue and then after that time period has elapsed, it will be listed for adoption for a $135 fee, after it has been treated by a vet.

 

If the animal is a cat or any other type, the resident who finds it may take it to the Humane Society. Unfortunately, Union County does not have Animal Control to service these requests.

Vicious Animals:

  • Union County's Sheriff's office should be contacted at 605.356.2769 to respond to vicious animals. Should anyone be attacked by an animal, please report the incident to the Association and follow with a police report made to the Union County Sheriff. The Association will follow up with the respective owner (verified by the Sheriff's report).

Stray or Loose Animals:
  • Loose animals may be reported to the Association office; however, the Association will not attempt to capture or retain them. We will send out a notification of the description if you are able to provide it.

Cases of Suspected Neglect/Abuse:
  • Please contact the non-emergency number of the Union County Sheriff's office at 605.356.2679 to report.
